Web Home Page: Kasugu National Park covers 2 316 km and contains several sites of archaeological interest, which the visitor can explore along a 10 km trail. Miombo woodland, which covers much of the park, is interspersed with open, seasonally flooded flats, and there are boken hills to the norht. Game-viewing in the park is good, particularly towards the end of the dry season, and lephant, hippopotamus, buffalo, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, reedbuck, kudu, roan, sable, puku, oribi and impala may be seen, as well as a small populaion of black rhinoceros. Lion, cheetah and leopard are also present. More than 3000 bird species have been recorded; bird watching is at its best during November and Desember. Location: Central Malawi; north-west of Lilongwe. Access: From Lilongwe drive northwards towards Ksungu (m1) for about 130 km; turn left (s114) and contiue for approximately 30 km. This road is suitable for ordinary vehicles, except during severe rains. Many of the park's internal roads are closed between January and June. Accommodation: Lifupa Lodge has 12 2-bed and 3-bed rondavels, each with a bathroom; meals provided. There is also a tented camp with communal kitchen and ablution facilities. Other facilities: 280 km network of gameviewing roads; drives accompanied by a game scout, by day or ight; a 10 km trail; a restaurant and bar; a swimming pool; an information centre.
